The Vanuatu Golf Open for 2008 will be held at the Port Vila Golf & Country Club from 7th to 10th August. This follows a Pro Am day on 6th August.

Professional and amateur golfers from around the South Pacific region will compete in this annual event.

The Fiji Rugby Union has appointed former Fiji and Wallaby legend Ilivasi Tabua as the new head coach of the FMF Flying Fijians. Tabua will coach the team to the Pacific Nations Cup and the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

For the first time in seven years, the Fiji International 7s rugby will resume competition to be played on January 19 and 20 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka. Teams from the Pacific Rim and Tier 3 of the Federation of Oceania Rugby Union (FORU) nations will take part in the tournament as a lead up to the Wellington 7s in New Zealand. South Pacific Games 2007 has been awarded to Samoa and will be held in Apia (Samoa's capital) from November 12-17, 2007. The Oceania and Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships will be held at the same time.
