THE 2008 Miss South Pacific award for 2008 went to Miss Niue, Vanessa Toriana Tracey Limatoa Marsh; the excited winner was one of eight contestants. The crowning ceremony took place at the Lee Auditorium in Samoa on Saturday 26th October.

Miss Fiji - the only Melanesian participant - Ms Filomena Tuivanualevu, received the Miss Charity crown and came third in the main Miss South Pacific event.

Fiji Islands will host the carnival in 2009.

THE winner of the Miss South Pacific pageant will be announced today, with Fiji and Samoa currently leading the field of South Pacific entrants. The event is being held in Samoa. Two journalists from Italy's national TV station RAI TRE were hosted in Fiji last month to work on a travel documentary entitled "Alle Falde del Kilimangagiaro".
