THE 2008 Miss South Pacific award for 2008 went to Miss Niue, Vanessa Toriana Tracey Limatoa Marsh; the excited winner was one of eight contestants. The crowning ceremony took place at the Lee Auditorium in Samoa on Saturday 26th October.

Miss Fiji - the only Melanesian participant - Ms Filomena Tuivanualevu, received the Miss Charity crown and came third in the main Miss South Pacific event.

Fiji Islands will host the carnival in 2009.
