Wreck Diving an alternative to Beqa's shark feeds
Beqa Lagoon in Fiji Islands is a world-renowned diving mecca for scuba divers. In particular, dive operators such as Aqua-Trek Beqa and Beqa Adventure Divers offer shark diving, where divers observe shark-feeding to the many species of shark. Dives are well-organised and very popular.
If shark feeding is not your thing, however, the lagoon also offers a myriad of other dive sites including a number of wrecks well worth a visit. About nine years' ago, four Taiwanese trawlers about 110 feet (30.5 metres) long were scuttled in 100 feet (30 metres) deep water. These wrecks are now covered by beautiful soft corals (for which Fiji is famous) and have provided safe havens for various fish such as grouper, rock cod, fusiliers and barracuda. The corals and teeming fishlife provide a colourful display, popular with scuba divers and underwater photography enthusiasts.
